On some flights, Delta Airlines and Shake Shack collaborate to provide cheeseburgers to first-class guests. With plans to expand next year, travelers traveling from Boston will be able to enjoy this innovative in-flight food experience starting on December 1.

Beginning on December 1, passengers on Delta flights will experience a delectable surprise. The airline will start serving Shake Shack cheeseburgers to first-class passengers on long-distance domestic flights leaving from Boston as part of a new relationship with the fast food chain.

By providing a comfort food staple at 30,000 feet, Delta is attempting to improve the in-flight eating experience.

A range of customizing options will be available for Shake Shack’s famous cheeseburgers, including fresh toppings like lettuce, tomato, and the company’s famous “ShackSauce,” which will all be delivered on the side for an added bit of flair.

In addition to the burger, travelers will savor a Caesar salad and a dark chocolate brownie that is modeled after Shake Shack’s well-known desserts.

Stephanie Laster, managing director of onboard service at Delta, said she was thrilled about the partnership and pointed out that burgers are always among the airline’s best-selling menu items.

This alliance expands on Delta’s other partnerships with well-known chefs, such as Danny Meyer, the founder of Shake Shack, who previously collaborated with the airline on meal choices.

Delta intends to bring the Shake Shack burger service to more cities by 2025, even if the agreement starts in Boston. Passengers in need of a filling mid-flight lunch are sure to enjoy this new product.
