At Los Angeles International Airport, TSA agents shockingly found pepper spray, knives, fake firearms, and fireworks in a woman’s carry-on luggage.
During the hectic Christmas season, the event serves as a sobering warning for passengers to check their bags one more time before leaving for the airport.
TSA agents found a shocking variety of forbidden items in a passenger’s carry-on bag during a routine security check at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
The event took place in Terminal 4 on the evening of December 15, 2024. A startling collection was found when TSA authorities spotted the suitcase after an X-ray scan: 82 pyrotechnics, three knives, two fake guns, and a pepper spray canister.
“It is very alarming how many prohibited items were found in one carry-on bag,” stated Jason Pantages, Federal Security Director at LAX TSA.
The pyrotechnics were seized, and the tourist, who was headed to Philadelphia, was questioned by the Los Angeles World Airport Police Department and bomb squad. The woman’s reason for carrying these items and whether or not she was arrested have not been revealed by TSA.
Since fireworks are considered explosives, they are not allowed aboard airplanes. Replica guns, knives, and tiny amounts of pepper spray are among the other things that are only permitted in checked baggage with certain limitations.
TSA advises travelers to thoroughly check their bags as the holiday travel crunch continues. Pantages suggested, “Unpack before you pack,” stressing that even inadvertent infractions could result in delays and safety issues.
The significance of adhering to TSA regulations is highlighted by this occurrence, particularly during the hectic Christmas season when security checkpoints are crowded with passengers.
