Tufts University’s Jeffrey Foster was selected for an ACM Fellowship, with distinction, due to his extensive contribution in programming languages and software security.
2024 January 24, Medford, MA—Jeffrey Foster, chair and professor of Tufts University’s computer science department, has been elected as an Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Fellow. The recognition given to the top 1% of ACM members is one of the most prestigious awards in the computing field, honoring exceptional contributions to the field.
Software engineering, security, and programming languages are his areas of interest. He is interested in developing novel techniques for developing software systems that are safer and more reliable. Foster joined the Tufts faculty in 2018 after earning his Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley. Outside of Tufts, Foster is active in ACM and chaired the ACM Special Interest Group on
The ACM was established in 1947 and serves as the biggest scientific and educational computing society worldwide, supporting the development of computing as a science and profession. From this vantage point, the fellows being inducted during 2024 are scheduled for a June ceremony that will take place in San Francisco.
