Starting July 5, 2025, Volaris will offer new nonstop flights from San Antonio International Airport to Morelia and San Luis Potos., enhancing cross-border economic ties and connectivity.
San Antonio International Airport (SAT) will be more connected to Mexico, with Mexican low-cost carrier Volaris introducing two new nonstop flights to Morelia and San Luis Potosí. These operations are scheduled to start July 5, 2025, and fly three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
San Antonio will depart to Morelia (MLM) at 6:49 p.m. and arrive at 7:39 p.m. Return flights will depart Morelia at 9:00 a.m. and arrive at San Antonio at 11:52 a.m. San Antonio’s departures for San Luis Potosí (SLP) are at 1:14 p.m. and arrive at 1:43 p.m., while return flights are at 2:48 p.m. and arrive at 5:16 p.m.
This new offering takes SAT’s non-stop Mexican destinations to nine, up from the previous four destinations offered pre-pandemic. Jesus Saenz, Director of San Antonio City Airport, highlighted the importance of this development: “Growth throughout Mexico is still a priority on our agenda at SAT. We appreciate partners such as Volaris for their ongoing investment in San Antonio; these added flights will not only make it easier to travel to visit loved ones, but also to build business relationships and continue to bring tourists to our beautiful region.”
Morelia, the capital city of Michoacán, is home to approximately 849,053 individuals as of 2020 and is famous for its thick cultural heritage and excessive agricultural exports in the form of avocados and guavas. San Luis Potosí, with approximately 911,908 individuals, is an industrial hub, best known for its automobile parts factory.
Volaris provides nonstop San Antonio flights to Guadalajara, Mexico City, and Monterrey. The introduction of Morelia and San Luis Potosí routes indicates the carrier’s dedication to enhancing cross-border connectivity. Volaris’ Executive Vice President, Holger Blankenstein, stated, “We are committed to offering customers in both nations the highest and lowest cost air connectivity so that it’s easier for them to be close to their families, on vacation, or for pursuing new business opportunities.”
This is after SAT recorded its record-breaking year in 2024, where it served more than 11 million passengers. To accommodate this growing demand, the airport embarked on several infrastructure projects that include a new terminal expected by 2028 and an opening of its Ground Load Facility in the fall of 2025.
The opening of these new pathways not only amplifies San Antonio’s position as a central point of entry into Mexico but also activates economic connections and cultural exchanges between the territories.
