Lautaro Martínez Says Messi Can’t Be Compared, Even With Yamal

Lautaro Martínez: No One Compares to Messi

Barcelona — Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martínez has shared his thoughts on the rising star Lamine Yamal, praising the young Barcelona player’s talent, but firmly stating that there is no comparison to football legend Lionel Messi

Yamal, just 17, has quickly become one of Barcelona’s most exciting players. His style, skills, and background have led many to compare him with Messi, who also came through the club’s youth system. But Lautaro isn’t buying into that idea.

“For me, Leo [Messi] is incomparable, because Leo is and will always be the best player of all time,” Martínez said of the Inter Miami captain.

“I’m not going to make that comparison. All I can say is that Lamine is an important player; we’ve all seen him, we all know him.”

The Argentine midfielder Messi joined Inter Miami after leaving Barcelona in 2021 with 778 appearances that resulted in 672 scored goals while winning 10 La Liga titles and four UEFA Champions League titles. No other player has left the same everlasting impression on this club.

The numbers Yamal is achieving have started to capture worldwide attention. The first team accepted Yamal in summer 2023, and he managed to accumulate 99 appearances while scoring 21 goals and distributing 27 assists.

The Spanish forward accomplished two historic firsts when he scored the league’s youngest goal, followed by his appearance as the league’s youngest participant in European competition. Aside from his important contribution to Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph, Yamal claimed both the Young Player of the Tournament honor as well as the under-21 European Championship.

At his young age Lautaro praised Yamal for his numerous achievements alongside his promising future performance potentials.

The young man does exceptionally well at his age because he secured important victories alongside Spain during national competitions, according to his fan. Both his peers and experts see his potential and understand his worth, which makes him deserving of respect because he possesses many prosperous paths in his future.

Yamal made a public statement to indicate that he refuses to compare himself with Messi.

Yamal stated in his Tuesday conference that he avoids comparisons with his fellow players.

He refuses to equate himself with anyone and rejects a comparison with Messi. Such things are outside my control. The goal that motivates me is to improve my skills in daily activities. Since I have great admiration for Messi, I choose to avoid discussing any similarities with football’s best historical player. He and I have never met in person to speak together.

The thrilling Copa del Rey victory of Barcelona came through their 3-2 extra-time triumph against Real Madrid, which Yamal helped achieve. Yamal presents Barça with one of its most notable bright spots in the current season.

With five games left in the season, Barcelona is four points ahead of Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga table, and Yamal remains key to their title hopes.
