Financial Options Recovery has released new findings from its 2024 case review, showing that a large number of people facing problems on online investment platforms delay asking for help, often until it’s too late. After reviewing over 83,000 inquiries, the team found that in more than half the cases, users waited more than a month before reporting suspicious activity.
“Often, the delay isn’t because people don’t care – they’re hopeful things will get sorted, or they’re unsure if something’s really wrong,” said one advisor from Financial Options Recovery. “But in that time, platforms can disappear and evidence can vanish.”
What the Data Shows:
- More than 50% of users waited over 30 days before reporting an issue.
- Many said they were told their funds were “under review” or had to complete extra steps before withdrawing.
- Several users were encouraged to invest more money to unlock their original balance.
- Others stayed silent because they felt embarrassed or unsure of whom to contact.
- In some cases, victims were contacted later by fake recovery agents offering to help, which led to further losses.
This hesitation often gives platforms more time to cover their tracks and reduces the chance of successful recovery or investigation. And the longer users wait, the harder it becomes to flag patterns or alert others.

The team at Financial Options Recovery says users shouldn’t wait for absolute certainty before reaching out. If something doesn’t feel right – like repeated delays, odd requests, or pressure to invest more – it’s worth looking into.
