During pushback at Philadelphia International Airport, an American Airlines aircraft unintentionally collided with a parked aircraft. Thankfully, there were no reported casualties, and travelers proceeded on a substitute aircraft.

On Sunday, an American Airlines flight unexpectedly pushed out from the gate at Philadelphia International Airport and crashed with a parked airliner.

Passengers became concerned when Flight 3161, which was headed for Miami, collided with the tail of a stopped plane, briefly delaying travel.

The airline reported that everyone got off the plane safely, and all 160 passengers and six crew members were unharmed.

The trip to Miami was able to proceed without any more interruptions after a replacement aircraft was promptly scheduled. In a statement, American Airlines said, “We sincerely regret any inconvenience this has caused our customers.”

There were no reported injuries in spite of the incident. The parked aircraft, which was empty, was not seriously damaged. The affected American Airlines aircraft was removed from operation for examination after the incident.

This accident comes after a similar one occurred last week when a bird strike forced another American Airlines flight headed for Charlotte to be rerouted back to New York City.

Although these occurrences demonstrate the difficulties associated with air travel, precautions were taken quickly to guarantee that neither passengers or crew suffered any injuries. American Airlines has promised the public that it is looking into what caused the most recent accident.
