Travelers on Delta Endeavor Flight 4819 experienced a nightmare Monday when their plane crash-landed at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The plane, which was flying from Minneapolis/St. Paul, flipped over upon landing, causing rescue crews to race to the site.
A Shocking but Survivable Crash
In spite of the spectacular landing, authorities confirmed there were no casualties. However, 18 were injured, including three who had to be given immediate hospital attention. Two of them were transported to trauma hospitals by air ambulance, while one child was transferred to a pediatric hospital. Some others had moderate to minor injuries.
Airport Disruptions Expected
Pearson Airport CEO Deborah Flint cautioned that the crash would lead to extensive delays. Two of the major runways are still shut down while the Transportation Safety Board of Canada probes the accident. Travelers can expect disruptions in the next few days.
What’s Next?
Although the reason for the crash is still unclear, aviation officials are trying to find out what caused the emergency landing. This comes after recent aviation scares, which have raised fears about air travel safety.
For the time being, passengers and their relatives are relieved that this crash did not become a worse tragedy.
