Observers are now convinced she might covet the race for the U.S. Senate seat in Florida; a position occupied by Republican Marco Rubio.
Although Lara Trump hasn’t announced she will run for the Senate, speculation on a bid for several months. Being that Florida was critical in this presidential election year, with rapid change in their politics, has put a new importance on Florida in terms of being key for both Republican and Democratic senators going into 2024. Her history of staying within the state as she resided here for quite some years gives credence to her being more plausible of possibly running for Rubio’s seat.
Lara Trump only said goodbye to the RNC in a short statement and did not disclose further details about her activities but only mentioned her gratification to work with the committee. Working with so many dedicated people at the RNC has been quite a privilege. She said she was looking forward to the future and would remain a staunch Republican who wants to contribute to the party in any way possible. Regarding the further plans in her career, she also said what every young actress usually answers: “We’ll see.”
Lara Trump has been an active advocate for the political agenda of the Trumps and she acted as a strategist during the 2020 presidential campaign. She also held a major responsibility of fund sourcing for the RNC. She has been influential within the party, esp within the Trump support base. That raised questions about her plans; some speculated that she is setting herself up for a Senate bid.
If Lara Trump runs for Senate, she would enter a crowded field of Republican candidates. The political environment in Florida has grown extremely competitive, with both parties trying to gain control of the state. Marco Rubio, who is currently a senator, is running for re-election in 2024.
