Disney World has made an announcement regarding phased closures that will begin at 1 p.m. today on Wednesday because Category 5 Hurricane Milton continues to head toward Florida.

All special event refunds will be issued and the theme parks will remain closed at least until Thursday.

Preparations include closing down for Hurricane Milton, which is now strengthening into a Category 5 hurricane. Among those that will be affected will be Orlando’s Walt Disney World, as it has announced phasing down beginning on Wednesday, October 9 at 1 p.m.

At 2:00 pm, Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and Disney Springs will close following Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. Disney Springs may be opened up in the afternoon, but the theme parks should still remain closed on Thursday.

Disney is rescheduling its Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on Thursday, October 10. It was to be held on that day because of the storm. Ticket holders will be reimbursed.

Because of safety, Copper Creek Cabins and Treehouse Villas will close early each day and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground may stay closed until Sunday.

Disney has promised its guests affected by the hurricane that rescheduling and reimbursements will be accessible under its storm policy.

Guests who made their reservations through third-party merchants should call them directly in case further assistance is required.

Theme parks like Universal Studios have also prepared. They toned down their closures and have given visitors options for rescheduling because of the Florida storm surges that could possibly turn out disastrous as well as strong winds.
