Google has committed 25 million euros ($98 million) towards aiding individuals in Europe to acquire proficiency in artificial intelligence (AI). With the goal of reaching people who will most benefit from such training efforts, the tech giant recently announced that it was accepting proposals from NGOs and social entrepreneurs. Google also intends to create “growth academies” to help businesses using AI flourish. Additionally, the organization has expanded to include 18 languages in its library of free online AI training courses.
The executive director of Google’s nonprofit partner, the Center for Public Impact, Adrian Brown, emphasized how artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to worsen already-existing disparities, especially in the areas of employment and financial security. He underlined how crucial this initiative is to ensuring that everyone in Europe may advance their knowledge, abilities, and self-assurance in AI and thus avoid falling behind.
As a result of the region’s increasing need for internet services, Google also recently declared its plan to spend a billion on the construction of a data center close to London. This data center, situated on a 33-acre (13-hectare) plot acquired by Google in 2020, will be situated in Waltham Cross, approximately 15 miles (24.14 km) north of central London, as per the announcement by the Alphabet-owned company.
