On a United Airlines trip from San Francisco to Washington, D.C., a man attacked a fellow traveler without cause in a startling event. After a terrifying minute-long onslaught, the attacker was brought down, leaving the victim beaten and injured.
A United Airlines passenger attacked a fellow passenger who was peacefully sleeping at an in-flight hour or about two hours into a flight from San Francisco to Washington Dulles International Airport, leaving others stunned as they watched and reacted afterward.
The FBI reported that Everett Chad Nelson, who was sitting at row 35, went into the front of the airplane and then turned around and stopped at seat 12F, where a man was sleeping.
The man suddenly started a vicious attack, hitting his head and face repeatedly against the man. Witnesses called the attack “vicious,” with blood splattered on the window, on the wall, and onto the seat beside him.
One witness of the attack, another passenger on the train, observed the attack to be highly savage and more like a brawl in a bar, except even worse.
The attacker seemed to have been extremely terrorized as well as assaulted, with a slash on his nose and swellings around his eyes.
Another passenger reacted so fast to stop the attack. Nelson was moved into another seat and was constantly watched until the plane arrived.
United Airlines praised the crew and passengers for their speedy reaction that allowed the airplane to land safely as police waited for the situation. The authorities said Nelson is facing a felony related to an attack.
