These fires ravaging Southern California now have thousands displaced from their homes, including relatives of two distinguished NBA coaches, Steve Kerr and JJ Redick. Both coaches spoke exactly in those terms about how fast the flames moved and what it did to their loved ones in the Pacific Palisades area.

JJ Redick, the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, revealed this sad news during a press conference, where he indicated that his family, which includes his wife and her twin sister, had to leave because his family was also going to extended relatives. “I want to acknowledge and send thoughts and prayers to everyone in the Palisades right now. That’s where I live,” Redick said. “Our family… they’ve evacuated. I know a lot of people are freaking out right now, including my family.”

Just as Steve Kerr is the head coach of the Golden State Warriors, he said his mother was also one of those evacuated, while he was giving his statement to reporters. Speaking to the press, Kerr defined his approach as concerned with the communities hit: “I want to send my thoughts and condolences to everybody in Los Angeles. My mom lives in Pacific Palisades, and seeing what’s happening is heartbreaking.”

The Pacific Palisades fire is one of many large fires now raging in and around Los Angeles. Strong Santa Ana winds have fueled the rapid, uncontrolled spread of the flames, further complicating the residual evacuation of thousands of residents.

Fire has touched much more than neighborhoods. The Los Angeles Clippers have Kawhi Leonard, who perhaps may not be able to do the job for Los Angeles anytime soon because he has gone to be with his family, who had to evacuate also. The Los Angeles Kings of the NHL.
