Netflix Drops Teaser and Sets May 1 Premiere for Tina Fey’s ‘The Four Seasons’

The Four Seasons

Netflix has officially set a May 1, 2025 premiere date for its upcoming comedy series “The Four Seasons”. They released the first official teaser giving audiences a glimpse of what’s to come in this modern take on a classic film.

A Modern Twist on a 1981 Classic

The Four Seasons is based on the 1981 film of the same name, written, directed by, and starring Alan Alda, who returns for the Netflix version as a guest star and producer. The series updates the original premise for a contemporary audience, focusing on three couples who have vacationed together for years. Their friendship is thrown into chaos when one couple unexpectedly announces their divorce during a group trip.

The events of the show unfold across four seasonal vacations, each revealing cracks in the once-tight circle of friends.

The Cast Bringing the Chaos

The lead couples are portrayed by an impressive cast:

  • Tina Fey and Will Forte
  • Steve Carell and Kerri Kenney-Silver
  • Colman Domingo and Marco Calvani

Supporting cast members include Erika Henningsen, Julia Lester, Ashlyn Maddox, Jacob Buckenmyer, Tommy Do, Chloe Troast, Jack Gore, and Cole Tristan Murphy.

Behind the Scenes: Creative Team and Production

The series was co-created by Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield, who serve as co-showrunners and writers. They also executive produce the series with David Miner, Jeff Richmond, and Eric Gurian. The first two episodes are directed by Robert Pulcini and Shari Springer Berman, with additional direction from Oz Rodriguez, Jeff Richmond, Colman Domingo, and Lang Fisher.

Netflix won the project in a competitive bidding war in early 2024 following the end of the 2023 industry strikes. Universal Television produces the series in partnership with Fey’s production company, Little Stranger.

Emmy Timing and Strategic Release

The show premieres just weeks before the May 31 Emmy eligibility deadline, placing it alongside other high-profile releases like Hacks, Black Mirror, The Handmaid’s Tale, Andor, and The Last of Us. With its star power and blend of comedy and drama, The Four Seasons is already being talked about as a strong awards contender.

Netflix is betting on the strength of Tina Fey’s creative voice and the universal themes of friendship, change, and emotional upheaval to deliver a series that resonates with viewers — and possibly the critics.
