New coach for Pakistan: Gary Kristen, will join Pakistan team for England series

Pakistan has four T-20s series against England before the T-20 World Cup next month in the Caribbean and the United States.

Gary Kirsten is ready to start his two-year assignment as the coach of Pakistan’s white-ball cricket team, He will join the squad in England on May 19.

Kristen has already been a part of the Gujarat Titans as a coach for two years in the Indian Premier League.

“I’ve missed the experience of coaching at the international level and nurturing talented players to reach their full potential.” Kristen said this in a recent statement issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board. “I’m committed to working closely with the Pakistani team to up their game and bring joy to the fans around the world.” Before this, Kristen had coached India and South Africa. In 2011, India lifted the World Cup under the guidance of Gary Kristen.

Last month, he was confirmed as the white ball coach, along with Jason Gillespie as the red ball coach. Besides the T-20 World Cup, he will also be their coach for the Champions Trophy in Pakistan and the Asia Cup in 2025.

Since the last two T-20 World Cups, Pakistan has performed well. The team made to the semifinals in 2021 and the final in 2022 against England.
