First Look at Nicolas Cage as 1930s Spider-Man in ‘Spider-Noir’ Series

Nicolas Cage as 1930s Spider-Man

Nicolas Cage is officially stepping into the spotlight as Spider-Man Noir. The first look at the upcoming live-action series Spider-Noir has just been released, giving fans a glimpse of Cage as a gritty private investigator in 1930s New York.

The series, originally titled Noir, was announced last year by Amazon MGM Studios. Cage had already voiced the same version of the superhero in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018), but this time, he takes the role into live action.

A Superhero with a Shadowy Past

Set in a stylized, crime-ridden New York, Spider-Noir follows an older, weathered private eye who once lived a secret life as the city’s only superhero. Now, he’s pulled back into the fight as he confronts ghosts from his past.

The show blends superhero action with hard-boiled detective storytelling. According to Amazon, it will be available in both color and black-and-white versions when it premieres in 2026.

Cast and Creators Behind the Series

Nicolas Cage takes the central role in the series, supported by Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Abraham Popoola, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, and Jack Huston.

It’s written by Oren Uziel (22 Jump Street, The Lost City) and Steve Lightfoot (The Punisher, Shantaram), who are co-showrunners. Emmy-winning showrunner Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag, Killing Eve) directs the first two episodes.

The series is produced with the Oscar-winning team behind Into the Spider-Verse, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, all of whom are executive producers on the show.

Where and When to Watch

Spider-Noir will first air on MGM+ before heading to Prime Video for streaming. Amazon confirmed the release window for 2026 during its recent upfront presentation.

Amazon Backs the Expansion

Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, said in a statement:

Expanding the Marvel universe with Noir is a uniquely special opportunity. Nicolas Cage is the perfect choice to lead this series. With a team like Lord, Miller, and Pascal, we’re confident it’ll be something fans haven’t seen before.
