In 2025, it is anticipated that 19 million Americans would take ocean cruises, setting a new record. The Caribbean is the most popular destination, and the busiest embarkation hubs are Florida ports, with Miami leading the pack.

Cruises continue to be popular among tourists looking for adventure and diversity because there are more possibilities for shorter trips.

In 2025, a record 19 million Americans are responding to the lure of the boundless seas. Cruise traffic has significantly increased, up from 18.2 million last year, according to AAA’s first-ever cruise industry projection.

Stacey Barber, vice president of AAA Travel, described the growth in the cruise sector as “nothing short of amazing,” pointing to the widespread appeal and value of cruising.

With 72% of U.S. passengers visiting, the Caribbean continues to be the most popular cruise destination. After a minor decline in recent years, the region has regained its pre-pandemic prominence because of its immaculate beaches and tropical charm. With 6% and 5% of visitors, respectively, Alaska and the Mediterranean come next.

Shorter Caribbean cruises, lasting two to five days, have become more popular; they now account for 18% of itineraries, up from 2% in 2023. The attractiveness for time-constrained travelers is increased by this extra flexibility.

Florida ports are the most popular destinations for embarkations, with Miami ranking first, followed by Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale.

The cruise industry’s global reach is demonstrated by the inclusion of international ports like Southampton and Barcelona in the top 10.

Whether they are first-time or experienced visitors, cruisers are discovering additional methods to customize their experiences as the activity becomes more and more popular.

With so much variety and convenience, 2025 is sure to be a great year for cruisers.
