Cinemacon: Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Beyond The Spiderverse Reveals New Updates!

Cinemacon Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Beyond The Spiderverse Reveals New Updates!

At CinemaCon 2025, Spider-Man swung back into the spotlight with fresh updates on two highly anticipated projects. One from Marvel Studios’ live-action universe starring Tom Holland, and the other from Sony’s animated Spider-Verse trilogy. While both films were previously announced, fans finally got new information for these anticipated movies.

Tom Holland Returns in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’

Destin Daniel Cretton, director of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, made his first appearance at CinemaCon, and he shared some of his personal experiences. After talking about how his child’s first words were “Spider-Man” and joking about losing money at roulette, he got to the real reason he was there.

Every day right now, I’m exploring the next stage of this amazing character with a team of incredible artists of the world. How to swing, how to create an emotional story and a ride we haven’t seen before,” said Cretton.

They tell me it’s tradition to tell you something about the film, that no one knows. We do have a trailer even though we didn’t share anything,” he added with a smile, before tossing it to a pre-recorded message from Tom Holland.

I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger,” said Holland, thanking exhibitors. Then came the reveal: the next Spider-Man film is titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and it hits theaters on July 31, 2026.

This will follow up on the monumental events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which ended with Doctor Strange wiping Peter Parker’s identity from everyone’s memory to save the multiverse, assisted by fellow Spider-Men played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. That film became the seventh highest-grossing movie of all time, earning $1.95 billion worldwide.

It is also revealed that Zendaya, Amy Pascal, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will return in this new chapter of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ Swings Back with a 2027 Release

Over in the animated Spider-Verse, Sony revealed that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is officially back on the release calendar. The final movie of this Spiderverse trilogy will now hit theaters on June 4, 2027.

The film was originally set for March 2024 but was delayed in July 2023 due to Hollywood strikes and the immense workload involved in creating the franchise’s visually groundbreaking style. At the premiere of Across the Spider-Verse in 2023, it was even said the final print was “literally wet,” having just been locked days earlier.

The first two films in the trilogy, Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and Across the Spider-Verse (2023), were both critical and commercial hits, earning an Oscar win, another nomination, and a combined box office collection of $1.08 billion.

Directed by Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson, and written by David Callaham, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller, the third film picks up where the last one left off. Miles Morales is stranded in a chaotic alternate version of Earth where he discovers a version of himself has become the Prowler, and there’s no Spider-Man to save the city.

The filmmakers teased, “Miles is on the run, and his friends like Gwen might not be able to save him.” A first-look clip shown at CinemaCon featured Miles saying,

Everyone keeps telling me how my story is supposed to go.

The film will also be the first Sony animated movie prepared for large-format screens, promising an even more immersive visual experience.

Two Spider-Men, Two Worlds, One Exciting Future

Whether it’s the grounded emotional stakes of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker or the multiverse madness of Miles Morales, Spider-Man’s future across film universes is looking bolder than ever. With Brand New Day swinging into theaters in 2026 and Beyond the Spider-Verse following in 2027, fans have plenty to look forward to.
