X Experiences Global Outage, Users Report Access Issues

X Experiences Global Outage

On March 30, 2025, X (previously Twitter) had a major global outage in which thousands of users could neither access the platform nor tweet updates. The outage started at around 3:00 PM Eastern Time and lasted for about 30 minutes. Over 58,000 users were affected at the peak of the outage, as per Downdetector, an online tool that tracks service outages.

Major regions’ users, such as the United States, United Kingdom, India, and Canada, reported challenges viewing their timelines and publishing content. In the U.S., nearly 69% of the problems involved the X application, whereas 24% involved the site.

This outage comes on the heels of a string of similar incidents that have plagued the platform over recent weeks. On March 27, both X and Reddit suffered outages that hit thousands of users in the US. Reddit confirmed the problem, saying they had rolled out a fix and were keeping an eye on the outcome.

Earlier this month, on March 10, X experienced intermittent outages, which owner Elon Musk blamed on an unusually strong cyberattack. Musk said, “We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved.”

Until now, X has not issued an official response on the reason behind the March 30 outage. Users are encouraged to keep an eye on the platform’s official channels for updates and report any continued issues through proper support channels.
