Travelers looking for a last-minute vacation this Christmas season can still find reasonably priced flights to sunny locations like Florida, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas despite rising airfare prices. Here’s where you can find affordable bargains.

Although crowded airports and increased airfares are common over the holiday season, there is always hope for travelers on a tight budget.

According to travel data from Hopper, even if many Americans are staying at home because of financial strains, individuals seeking a warm getaway can still find discounts to well-liked locations.

46% of Americans are forgoing Christmas travel this year, up significantly from 39% the previous year, according to a new J.D. Power survey. Many people are experiencing financial pressure as a result of rising expenditures; this tendency is most noticeable among older persons and those who are categorized as financially “Vulnerable” or “Stressed.”

There are still reasonably priced flights to warm-weather destinations for people who aren’t deterred by price increases. Round-trip tickets from Boston to San Juan, Puerto Rico, for about $348, and Nassau, Bahamas or Grand Cayman, for $377, are available.

Flyers from Chicago can get away to San Juan for $320 or to Fort Lauderdale for as little as $140.

Even airports in the New York area have good prices; flights from Newark to Nashville cost $131, while tickets to Grand Cayman cost $503. Meanwhile, round-trip tickets to San Juan are available for $287 for tourists from Dallas.

Travel experts say being flexible with dates and destinations can result in big savings, even though escalating prices have made many people hesitant.

These last-minute solutions provide an opportunity to enjoy the holidays without breaking the bank for those who are ready to trade winter for sunshine.
